A few of my thoughts after finding this post in my drafts after a long damn time:
"Oh god, what"
"How have I not posted this yet?"
"Maybe, I can pretend that I never forgot- do people do that"
"Will this be relevant if I post it as a back to school DIY?"
Anyways, here's the actual DIY that I probably said was going to be posted like a year ago (whoops):
If you've ever been to the dude's section at Target (and really anywhere), you would have noticed how ridiculously soft their sweatshirts are. So, I set out to customize some sweatshirts and here's how I did it:
Supplies:
a sweater or sweatshirt
some fabric (you really don't need much. I got half a yard of lace for the ribs and only used a third of it)
paper
permanent marker or pencils
thread
needles
scissors
optional: good music to listen to
- Find a design that you want and either print it out or sketch it if you want a really large design (I taped four pieces of paper together than drew my ribs pattern onto it).
-Cut out the pattern and pin it to the fabric of your choice. You will most likely have to hand sew your design if you have a complex design unless you have one of those fancy sewing machines that I'm not quite sure how to use...
-Sew the design on and wear with pride!
Or if you want to take the easier route, buy some of transfer paper so you only need to iron it on (be sure to read the package's instructions).

Put a Light On
Hello friends! Today... is Tuesday. However, I have (what I think) is a very good reason for this. Last night I decided that putting up our new logo was worth posting this Music Monday one day late. I'm really, really, really, really excited about it! Designing it took a lot of trial and error. Originally I planned to have sacks of flour with spikes on them, but at best it was just weird. This logo, although it is based off of 'flowers' rather than 'flours', kind captures what our blog is about and what we want our blog to be.
In the weeks since my last Music Monday (that wasn't all about rap music), this playlist has gotten out of control and expanded times 3. So many new albums have come out on top of all the new artists I've found that there was no way to keep the playlist down to only 6 songs. I wanted to include every single song on every album, but instead I'll let you guys discover them for yourselves.
Because I'm lazy, I will only list six of the songs on here. But I do hope that you check out the rest of the song on Spotify, Youtube, Itunes, etc. Think of it as like a Pre-Summer playlist!
The playlist*:
"Put a Light On" - Generationals
"Orange Blossom" - Gardens & Villa
"Ocean's Deep" - Born Ruffians
"While I'm Alive" - STRFKR
"Venice" - The Lighthouse and The Whaler
"Back to the Middle" - Deerhunter
*click to find the rest of the tracks
One last thing I'd like to say before I end this blog post is: Hi ppl from my school ☺

Nostalgia
Hey lovelies! I must also apologize for being MIA recently. School has been a real drag lately, with the end of year tests (since there are, what, five weeks left of school for me) and my unwillingness to actually do work. And considering the extent to which I procrastinate, the next few weeks will also be a struggle, because I'd rather not do anything anymore. I really just want summer to be here, so I can stare at social media sites without the guilt
The playlist:
"Together/Never" - Oberhofer
"Thirst" - City and Colour
"Can't Keep Your Mind Off" - Data Romance
"I Love It - feat. Charli XCX" - Icona Pop
"Heartbeat" - Childish Gambino
"Miss Missing You" - Fall Out Boy
"Crocodile Rock" - Elton John

Sum It Up Sunday: March - April
I guess maybe I'm kind of, sort of, a little, really bad at blogging? It's been almost one whole month since my last Sum It Up post, its 4 minutes till the end of Sunday, and I even took a Twitter break while writing this (What am I doing?!!) I'm really sorry for the lack of posts in general on this blog... All of my (super small amount) of motivation has been going into school recently, so this blog is always being neglected.
In other news, the pink hearts returned again! The reason for this being that the sun was really bright and I could barely open my eyes. Also with my Asian ethnicity, that was a recipe for disaster lolz
Well, here is the part where I promise to try to post more, but I think we all know by now that it'd be a lie :-(

For this Music Monday I decided to show you guys a little more of my love for rap music. I may not seem like it, but I actually listen to rap music everyday. Dear Raleigh - Kooley High
Gone - Kanye West
Say It Again - Little Brother
A Song For That - Oddisee

Black Mags - The Cool Kids
A Man - Blu & Exile
Other hip hop things I love are beatstrumentals on SoundCloud. Check out Ta-ku, weirddough, Handbook, and kirvy. Sometimes they even give free downloads!!

Tourist History
Happy Monday, not really! I've been a little off the entire day thanks to the hour change, which I often question how applicable it is to our modern America when artificial light is quite accessible Anyways, for the past week or so, I have also been obsessed with the Japanese avatar game Line Play. I don't understand why I'm so entertained by it, but it is so much fun. And as a bonus, I've managed to win eight little cat dolls.
So, here's the playlist:

"Believer" - American Authors
"Eat That Up, It's Good For You" - Two Door Cinema Club

What a Drag
Hello everyone! It feels like it's been a while. But maybe that's because I 've been spending all my time playing LinePlay. Really, I have no idea why this app is so addictive! I've tried to take preventive measures by hiding my phone in my closet, but somehow I just end up playing the game in there too. I even played it at school and disobeyed school policy!! Sigh, I would recommend it to you all, but then you would probably end up like me.
The other day I while I was going through old Music Mondays, I noticed something ... I pick the slowest songs ever to make a playlist ☹ Even though I love all the songs I feel like they all blend together because they are so slow. To make up for the lack of excitement, I tried to pick more up beat songs this time! I hope you enjoy!
The Playlist
Tissue Shoulders - The Maccabees
Finding Something to Do - Hellogoodbye
90s Kids - Oh No! Yoko
What a Drag - Bear Hands
Jet Trails - Mesita
First Date Kid - Born Ruffians
xx
Sydney
Also, I promise the Sum It Up Sunday post will go up this Sunday!

Time to Pretend
green jacket - thrifted
striped cardigan - thrifted
grey dress (its studded!) - ross
tights - mom?
socks - burlington coat factory
vans - vans store
rings - forever 21
Here's an outfit that I wore a few days ago. I kept forgetting to make a post about it, so here it is (finally). I recently bought six pairs of knee high socks, which are more "kind of to the knee but not really" socks. I've been wanting really long socks for ages, so I was quite happy to get some.

Transcendental Youth
Happy Presidents day and music Monday! Recently, I finished The Virgin Suicides, which is a feat because it's been sitting on my side table for a couple of months. I thought it was pretty good read, actually. I'll have to check out the movie now. In other news, my friend had a really, really fun Valentine's party last Friday that included a scavenger hunt at our local outlet mall and a movie. The scavenger hunt was hilarious and amazing! I ended up doing the macarena in a Timberland store and I got to hug a rather dapper looking Old Navy employee. A very memorable night, in my opinion.
So, here's the playlist:
"Are You Satisfied?" - Marina & the Diamonds
"Carried Away" - Passion Pit
"Cry for Judas" - The Mountain Goats
"Naive" - The Kooks
"Rosalinda's Eyes" - Billy Joel
"Playground Love (With Gordon Tracks)" - Air

First Choice
Well, my post from last week is kind of ironic now because I'm grounded from Youtube... It's probably a good thing that I take a break from it though ☹.
This week I found an indie Spanish band called Los Hermanos McKenzie. I have no idea what their songs are saying even though I'm in Spanish 5 , but hopefully listening to them will help me learn through osmosis! My other favorite songs by them are Inutil and Trepado a un Arbol.
Here is the Playlist:
The Temptation of Adam - Josh Ritter
Heart it Races (cover) - Dr. Dog
Caught Me Thinkin - Bahamas
Tengo - Los Hermanos McKenzie
Pyotr - Bad Books
First Choice - Gabe Bondon

"Flapper Girl" by The Lumineers

Sum It Up Sunday: January 28 - February 3, 2013
Today is Sunday, actually its Superbowl Sunday. I really wanted to be hyped up and peppy today, but then... Youtube... I'm pretty sure I have a Youtube addiction. Last night, for example, I thought it would be a great idea to subscribe to BertieBertG (the boy who played Malfoy's son in the last Harry Potter) and watch all his videos till 3am. I want to say it was worth it because BertieBertG is really handsome looking, but my dark circles and droopy eyelids are telling me it wasn't. The only excuse I have right now for this is the fact that I'm a teenager. But staying up till the am is what teenagers do, right?

I've currently been in love with velvet clothing. I love how it feels and how it adds a different texture to an outfit. I'll have to figure out how to incorporate it in the spring. Or just not care and continue to wear velvet.
By the way, we shall be posting our Wants this Wednesday (tomorrow?), so stay tuned for that.

It's Alright
It's another Monday again. <Warning: Super long dairy post ahead!!!> These past couple of weeks have been a rollercoaster of good and bad things. First, lets start with exams. Overall I did really well on all of them. I even did well on my English exam where I had to write a creative excerpt for The Great Gatsby and I ended up saying that Gatsby killed Daisy. However, there was one exam I did very poorly on. Spanish. When I revealed the news to my parents, it seemed like time stopped because they didn't blink at all for 5 minutes. Later my dad called me over and said "Sydney, are you having any boy problems?" That made me lol though.
Second, I lost two very important things: a diamond ring and my Sims 3 game. I couldn't find them anywhere I looked. But then something amazing happened. On Friday, I suddenly got the urge to wear a certain shirt and when I pulled it out the ring just flew out of nowhere! As of now I'm feeling a weird mix of feelings. I feel both happy and disappointed at the same time, but hopefully the weeks ahead will leave me just feeling happy.
I hope you all have a very splendid week and enjoy my playlist!
Playlist:
"The Fisherman" by Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr.
"Secrets Make Sounds" by French Cassettes
"It's Alright" by Opus Orange
"Woodwind" by Other Lives
"When I Was Your Man" by Bruno Mars
"Just a Friend" by Mario

Sum It Up Sunday: January 27, 2013
I'm not sure how to start these posts, so welcome to last Sunday of January 2013! It's so crazy to think about. It seems like the beginning of the year was just a few days ago. This week, my area has been graced with a little bit of snow. It was enough to get a delay and an early closing, which allowed me to watch even more movies (I've watched at least 13 since the beginning of the year....) and listen to music. I took a break from being unproductive and went to the Salvation Army yesterday. I bought a black, velvet maxi skirt for $4 and a purple, pleated maxi skirt that was also $4. Sadly, the purple skirt is not the size six it suggested, so I may turn it into a shorter skirt. I also went to Ross where I got $5 heels (!!) and a grey tank top with silver skulls for $8.

Haul
I can't believe half of the school year has already passed! It's gone by too quickly in my opinion (mostly because exams are this week, oh my!) My order from Forever 21 came in this week which helped to ease my anxiety. I bought a pair of velvet leggings (I cannot properly express how much I love them) for $12.80, a pair of floral leggings for $8.80, an over-sized white tee for $, a black sweater for $, and a silver collar necklace for $.
